  Active Box
"Active Box" is a wheel chair fairing connected to a mechanical arm and is installed on the roof of a car.

The arm, which lifts and lowers the wheel chair, is propelled by a hydraulic system. After having been lowered, the fairing grasps the wheel chair and moves it to the roof. There, holders on beams block the wheel chair into a stationary position.

The process is completely automated and controlled by a remote control. The fairing can be adjusted, therefore enabling it to fit every type of wheel chair. Furthermore, "Active Box" can be installed on every car model. This projects attempts to make disabled people more independent of others.

  Finding of the Jury:
This project provides a solution for handicapped people, that offers true independence and mobility. The focus wasn’t mainly on a new wheelchair; it was on a new storage and transportation solution. All major aspects of the product are well researched and resolved. Substantial progress can be seen in the fact that a seemingly difficult task becomes significantly easier for the user to handle.

The issue of safely mounting the wheelchair on the roof has to be investigated.
