Digital Mailbox
The design study of Mail@vase is a digital mailbox that attemps to close the gap between modern technology and elderly people.
The Digital Mailbox uses modern technology to send and receive traditional handwritten mails. After login using a fingerprint, a display shows the status of the post-box. Incoming letters are printed right away. The reply is written on paper with a digital pen that is recognized by the vase. Internet connection is via WiFi, but it can also be connected to a Palm with Bluetooth. Also inclused is a webcam and a projector that makes chatting and video calls possible. Without a mouse, keyboard or a monitor, the unique shape of the mailbox serves as proof of its user-friendly traits.

Finding of the Jury:
This product returns the interface of a computer to an analog form. This is especially beneficial to people who don’t want to deal with traditional computers. The interaction is based on the way people have been communicating for hundreds of years. The product emphasizes the playful and fun aspects of using a computer.
Concern was expressed that the visual impression of this object is similar to products from the 1990’s.
