WaveGlider
The WaveGlider functions as a wearable surfboard; as a second improved skin to enhance the body’s abilities in the water.
The design is based on the surfboard’s shape and functions without its complications. As the surfer inflates the chest and the side wings of the suit, a hydrodynamic shape and an increased floating capacity is achieved. The surfers’ limbs act as an active extension of the suit. On the one hand a stiff glove is worn for manoeuvring, and a flexible glove for paddling on the other. The two leg-fins help maintain control and speed. Surfing with the wave suit seems intuitive and is based on natural swimming instincts. Also, the surfer is no longer has to pay attention to logistic difficulties, since the compact surfing gear can be stored in a small pack.
The WaveGlider is a new generation of water sports which simplifies surfing and brings it to a wider range of people.

Finding of the Jury:
This is a very interesting and innovative product that opens up a new field of design possibilities. It is not just an object to be used by people but an object that can become one with a person and extend the possibilities of the human body and experience. It reflects the motto of the Braun prize: “Dream real products”.
The product probably requires more trial and error work for functionality.
