  Ring
‘Ring’ is an alarm clock especially designed for couples and deaf-mute people, which, contrary to contemporary products, awakes individuals using gentle vibration rather than an acoustic signal.

The product consists of a base and two rings which can be worn at the finger pad, the most sensitive part of the finger. The base is used to set the desired wake-up time and also functions as charging station for the electrical power supply of the rings. The innovative function of the alarm clock is made possible through the use of a micro vibration unit and a microchip.

‘Ring’ transforms the awakening experience from a startle caused by an unpleasant signal into a considerate and gentle awakening by way of motion which does not disturb the sleep of the other person.

  Finding of the Jury:
‘Ring’ creates a simple and subtle solution to an everyday situation and an intelligent improvement on existing alarm clocks. For couples that need to wake up at different times, the ring wakes up one person without disturbing the other. The shared rings also suggest the emotional and romantic bond between two people. The jury was also impressed by the design of the product, which evokes two people sleeping next to each other.
