  0GSW
The ‘Zero Gravity Surgical Workstation’ is an operating table which allows for the treatment of injuries in zero gravity environments.

The individual components of the operating table can be assembled in different positions in order to achieve optimal positioning for the operation. Due to the special zero gravity condition it even allows the surgeon to carry out surgery face-to-face with the patient in an upright position. When not in use, the operating table can be folded and stored, therefore saving space. In order to keep the weight at a minimum, the ‘0GSW’ is constructed of particularly light materials, which are radiolucent and therefore allow for the possibility of taking x-rays while on the table.

This concept is part of a contingency plan which would allow necessary medical treatment locally, without help from earth, during interplanetary missions.

  Finding of the Jury:
This product demonstrates strong research and testing in human factors and provides a functional solution to future needs in extreme zero gravitation environments. The model is particularly well crafted, however the concept itself lacks a deeper consideration of the particular environment and further required equipment for surgery procedures.
