The concept ‘Dr. Donald’ features products in the area of ear, nose and throat medicine which are especially designed with children in mind and whose functions have been improved through use of new technologies.
Simple and gentle forms give rise to the impression of a cute-looking bird and lend the devices friendly characteristics. Combined with the integrated technology, the examination devices appear less daunting and offer a more pleasant handling during diagnosis. The stethoscope transmits the data via bluetooth from the detector to the doctor‘s ear piece and supports the sound reading with optical signals. The otoscope consists of a camera, an OLED monitor and a light for images of the inner ear to be captured and reproduced. These two products are complemented by a tongue depressor, integrated with a light function, which therefore renders an additional lamp unnecessary.
Due to their child-friendly design, the devices inspire thechild’s interest and allow for a more relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

This healthcare product offers an evolutionary improvement on existing products in its user-friendly appeal to children and its playful design. It also simplifies existing technology by combining functions in single instruments and improving hygienic problems. The jury suggests that the inner ear camera may benefit from the addition of an infrared thermometer.
