  Escortée
‘escortée’ is a walking aid especially designed for long term use and therefore distinguishes itself ergonomically and aesthetically from conventional walking aids.

Whereas conventional aids often cause pain on the elbow or wrist after a period of time, ‘escortée’ reduces pain due to the custom-made handle, improved rubber foot and overall structure, therefore easing the walking experience. It allows for efficient training, teaching the patient to gradually put pressure on the leg or the hip. A mechanism inside the aluminium structure allows the doctor or the patient to control the amount of weight the
walking aid should assume. This mechanism allows the patient to regain independence step by step, until the elbow rest can be removed and only the stick remains as a balance aid.

The walking aid is a combination of serially produced parts and custom-made components which are manufactured using laser sintering technology. This way the ‘aid’ assumes a stylish look.

  Finding of the Jury:
Based on effective ergonomic research, the walking stick not only provides support but also encourages muscle regeneration and coordination. It is also a stylishly designed product that allows for personalization through the adjustable spring mechanism.
