  Breath_g
Since the advent of submarine exploration, humans have dreamed of being able to breathe underwater just like undersea organisms. The necessary technology has now been developed and tested.

‘Breath_g’ extracts the oxygen present in water, thereby allowing the diver to breathe underwater without the use of a compressed air tank. So far there is no similar product on the market, as the necessary technology has not yet been perfected. But the concept holds great potential for the near future.

‘Breath_g’ offers the diver a greater degree of freedom, permitting him/her, for example, to choose a diving location virtually at will. Heavy compressed air tanks will become a thing of the past and diving will become a more accessible and affordable activity for many people. ‘Breath_g’ will reduce the risk of nitrogen narcosis and permit longer periods of submersion.

  Finding of the jury:
This proposal has practical relevance, as it makes use of technological solutions currently in development. This is a very important field of activity for designers, because new design concepts help to accelerate the translation of advanced technologies into consumer products.

‘Breath_g’ integrates use factors, ergonomics and functionality in an intelligent design solution to a challenge that is receiving attention from many scientific disciplines.
