  Sounder
The function of ‘Sounder’ is to warn hearing-impaired individuals when they encounter a dangerous situation.

‘Sounder’ is a programmable device that attaches to the wrist and vibrates when it recognizes a preprogrammed hazard sound. In this way, the person wearing it is alerted to danger in a timely manner.

The product consists of an adjustable elastic strap and a screen featuring two microphones, a memory of 2000 sounds, an adjustable sensor, and lights that indicate the direction from which the hazard sound comes. ‘Sounder’ is placed on the wrist. When the device detects a dangerous situation, it immediately begins to vibrate. Its user can see on the screen what type of situation he/she is confronted with and can orient to its source.

  Finding of the jury:
Hearing impairment is a serious condition, at both a personal and societal level. In situations of risk or danger, it is often very difficult for people with a hearing impairment to receive vital information with the necessary immediacy. The jury values this concept for its communication interface, which was specially designed for its user group. With ‘Sounder,’ the hearing impaired can maintain control in more situations and react more quickly in case of emergency.
