E-Ride
E-Ride is an alternative to conventional sources of electricity (e.g. primary batteries and the power grid) for charging devices for everyday use such as cell phones, cameras, and mp3 players.
How it works: The motion of the bicycle sets an electric coil into motion which in turn activates an internal electrical generator. The coil turns along with the rotation of the bike wheel, generating electrical power sufficient for multiple hours of operation. It also stores this power. Self-powered devices are mostly used in emergencies or natural disasters; E•RIDE changes this concept to an everyday activity.
Its mains parts are: Front wheel mount, conductive wire (connecting the wheel device with the storage unit), bike frame mount, energy storage dock-unit with an integrated electrical generator, and port adaptor.
E-RIDE uses an environmentally friendly existing technology that is suitable for wide adoption because it combines exercise, socializing and fun.

Finding of the jury:
This proposal is valuable as a simple and functional solution, achieving a harmonious design for a product that can be easily integrated into a bicycle as an additional portable energy source. The jury recommends reevaluating the product proportions and size of its constituent elements. With the decreasing size of components in this field, a smaller and more lightweight version of this design proposal could be possible.
