How should a young designer approach a new assignment?
Young designers should approach their new projects as an opportunity to explore new things and seek out new people/opinions/approaches. Gather new viewpoints and push new ways of thinking. Absorb like a sponge. Take risks and explore new ways/methods. Remember, nothing comes easy.

Be like a sponge and challenge yourself. Don’t stop learning. Explore constantly and expand your horizon. Have fun (be fun) and discover your strengths.

What role do design prizes play in general, and the BraunPrize in particular in terms of fostering design talents?
The BraunPrize is considered a worldwide recognition. Applicants and professionals from various industries anxiously follow the competition and their nominees every year. Having been recognized with a Brown Prize looks excellent in a resume!

What will be your approach when evaluating the submissions?
1st I will take a look at the overall presentation of the project (main idea and quality of how the main idea(s) are communicated/implemented. Then, I will discuss/observe viewpoints from experts in each particular field and then generate my feedback/evaluation. Overall, what counts in my opinion are the following main criteria: Originality; relevance, execution/presentation.

What are your personal sources of inspiration?
My main inspiration is born out of the love to dealing with problems. Having fun with discovering them, defining them and trying my best to resolving them cleverly. Multidisciplinary and multicultural teams are a lot of fun and offer a great deal of inspiration and new ideas/viewpoints. I also find a lot of inspiration in my travels and meeting people. Not to forget, family and friends!

How do you work on new ideas?
Our team tries to learn from previous projects and constantly pushes for a better way to start/work on new projects/ideas. Viewing ideas from many different viewing angles is key and a lot of fun.

What is your personal definition of “good design” and its role in your life?
Good design fulfills an emotional and functional goals well and in a surprisingly, oftentimes simple (of course responsible) way.
